Author, Educator, and International consultant, Lorraine supports parents and educators across the UK and internationally to nurture children’s Can-Do mindset and life skills through everyday, screen-free play.
She is author of three best-selling books, including “The Can-Do Child: Enriching the Everyday the Easy Way”, and “A Parent’s Guide to Easy, Screen-Free Activities Children Will Love”.
Lorraine has 20+ years practical business experience, and has developed a comprehensive toolkit for Can-Do Child which includes activity cards, apps, online courses, and workshops, plus resources to support schools with family engagement.
As part of her ‘giving back’, Lorraine Chairs the judging for the annual Young Enterprise Fiver Challenge; delivers enterprising workshops to schools, colleges, and universities under the Welsh Assembly Government ‘Big Ideas Wales’ initiative, and sits on the Board of South Wales Young Enterprise.
Current / Notable Projects
Developing an Enterprising and Life Skills programme for young learners in the township of Alexandra in the Gauteng province of South Africa (with the Women at Work Foundation).
Supporting the launch of the Annual Bright Start Foundation ‘Early Years Excellence in Practice’ conference for educators, in Abu Dhabi. Continuing that work through delivery of workshops in family centres, plus development of subsequent annual, international conferences. Now a Member of the Conference Advisory Council.
Launching the brand new ‘Raising Can-Do Children’ Club – meeting online (audio) to discuss a different topic each week about nurturing children’s can-do mindset and skills for life. Topics so far have included helping children be great problem solvers; the benefits of outdoor play; developing healthy screen habits; and role models.
