TYPES OF PRODUCT REVIEWS
Good Play Guide Accreditiation
Each product, app and/or game is reviewed by multiple children and professionals to gain insight into its benefits. With expert feedback on skills developed, expert comments, and direct quotes from testers that can be used in marketing materials.
Range / Batch Reviews
Having multiple products tested in a session is a great way to reduce costs. See the information below for more details, or feel free to speak to us about the available options.
Submission Types
Free Submission
Our entry-level submission tier focuses on establishing product credibility. This option includes a featured live product review on GoodPlayGuide.com, contingent upon the product meeting our rigorous quality and safety testing standards. It is an ideal starting point for brands looking to gain an initial foothold in the expert-reviewed toy and game market.
Fast Track Submission
The Fast Track tier is designed for brands seeking a competitive edge and market recognition. This package includes all the benefits of a Free submission, upgraded with:
- Priority Accreditation: Expedited testing and review timelines.
- Licensing Rights: Full authorisation (subject to T&Cs) to display the prestigious Good Play Guide Accreditation Stamp across all digital and physical touchpoints, including packaging, social media, and third-party retail sites.
Strategic Product Review
Our most comprehensive tier offers a deep dive into the “why” behind product performance. This includes all Fast Track benefits, plus an enhanced, data-rich report covering:

EACH ACCREDITED PRODUCT WILL RECEIVE:
The Good Play Guide's stamp of approval to use on printed and digital assets throughout all marketing and sales platforms
A downloadable certificate created by the Good Play Guide™ which can be used for marketing.
If you opt for our Strategic Product Review you will also receive a detailed report which can be used for marketing, research or further development of the product
Opportunity to be involved in campaigns and events run by the Good Play Guide™ during the course of the year!
RATINGS FOR PRODUCTS
Our reviews are based on a combination of real and authentic feedback from:
Children
Parents, Childminders and Teachers
and our team of Child Development Experts
We use a specially designed five-star system to rate the products we review.
FUN RATING
If a product is awarded a fun rating of 5, this shows that this product was very engaging and was able to keep most children engaged for longer than 10 minutes at a time (or slightly less for toddlers/pre-schoolers).
However, if a product is awarded with a fun rating of 1, this shows that most children became disengaged with this product and are reluctant to engage further with the product or learning resource.
EASE OF USE RATING
If a product is awarded an ease of use rating of 5, this shows that we were able to find no problems whatsoever with the product’s usage. Although activities may be initiated by an adult, children will still be able to easily understand how to use the resource to its full capacity with minimal third-party intervention.
However, if a product is awarded an ease of use rating of 1, this shows that the instructions and materials for leading the learning activity are unclear for adults and the product requires constant assistance from a third party for the target age group to engage with it.
SKILLS DEVELOPMENT RATING
If a product is awarded a skills development rating of 5, this shows that this product allows children to be actively involved with the learning experience and offers opportunities for children to continually extend and apply their knowledge. The product or resource will include additional guidance for adults, to help them support children’s learning to extend their knowledge.
5 pencils are hard to achieve and are only available for toys we consider exceptionally good for learning and development.
However, if a product is awarded a skills development rating of 1, this shows that this product does not help children gain new knowledge or skills.

WHAT IF MY TOY DOESN'T MEET THE CRITERIA FOR ACCREDITATION?
If you have pre-paid for a review and your product doesn’t meet the criteria for accreditation on its initial submission, we will provide recommendations and offer a complimentary resubmission within a 12-month period.
